Operation Good Guys

opgoodguys

I was thinking about this recently and wondering if it’d still be funny or whether it was too much of it’s time. I think it’s okay and the boxing episode is ace. It’s a go!

The Jesus Man

It’s hard to think about The Big Lebowski and not think of Jesus. Click on the image to watch him dance and then here to find out what John Turturro was thinking.

Tron Legacy

I wasn’t too impressed by this until the dude showed up. You forget how he looked before he got old. Plus Daft Punk are doing the soundtrack which makes sense.

Kuroshio Tank

Not really all that into things fishy, despite living at the seaside, but I’m easily impressed by anything made to a massive scale and 10,000m³ of water seems like a lot. Click on the image (or here) to watch the clip and here to plan your visit to Motobu cho, Okinawa.

Daedelus

Not everyone’s cup of tea but I think the new(-ish) live album is well worth a listen, even Pitchfork agrees. Here’s a free download from New York’s Percussion Lab which is “a 24/7 stream of the illest underground electronic and hip hop music” but don’t let that put you off. And even if you’re not into it I recommend you go here and enjoy the weird face he pulls at 12 secs in.

John Baldessari

Is this everything you need to know about conceptual art? Or is it just everything you need to know about John Baldessari? Or do you need more information? Bit more?

How Music Works

howardgoodall

Who would have thought that a brilliant television series explaining music to tone deaf idiots like me would be the creation of this incredibly punchable face? My friend Sleepyvalley that’s who. Click on the image for the first one and then you’ll be hooked and have to watch them all. Which will sadly have to be all crunchy on your computer as they’ll never get clearance to put out on Doovdé.

Graffiti Taxonomy

graffititaxonomy

“In Graffiti Taxonomy: Paris (2009), over 2,400 graffiti tags were photographed from April 24 to April 28, 2009 from each of Paris’s 20 districts. All photographs were archived, tagged and sorted by letter.” from Graffiti Taxonomy.

So what did we discover? That J is the second least popular letter in this straw poll of tags….which explains a lot. Click on the image or here for the interactive version.

Masquerade by Kit Williams

masquerade

Masquerade is a children’s book, written and painted by Kit Williams, which sparked a worldwide treasure hunt by concealing clues to the location of a jewelled golden hare, created and hidden somewhere in Britain by Williams.” From wikipedia.

When I heard about this on the radio last week I thought I remembered having the book as a kid. In actual fact we had this and I was pretty convinced that we (as a family) would find all of the eggs. We did not.

Synecdoche, New York

synecdochenewyork

Have you seen this? I haven’t seen it but I would like to, the trailer, this review and even the website make me want to. Plus Charlie Kaufman films are always interesting…and at least I’ve learnt a new word.
