Noh

noh

It’s amazing the great stuff you can pick up on ebay, I’ve got another one coming soon…both clay and quite heavy and small for my big old moon face. Although from the looks of it that’s how they’re supposed to fit.

Gilbert & George

I suppose this was always coming but I do really love their style…click on the image to see some great footage of the boys in action in Australia in 1973, or here more recently. And once you’re done here to see Alexei Sayle explaining it all and for a bit of light relief.

Cremaster

cremaster

Parts of Tokyo! (see below) reminded me of Matthew Barney and The Cremaster Cycle (viewers with a nervous disposition should look away) which i’ve been sort of fixated on for years. There’s a trailer for the complete piece here which doesn’t really give anything away but has some nice shots. Then there’s this genius where someone has created a level of Little Big Planet based on Cremaster 1 which i find frankly staggering.

I was also going to bang on about The Holy Mountain but i think that’s more than enough weirdy film for one night…

Tokyo!

“In TOKYO!, three visionary directors come together for an omnibus triptych examining the nature of one unforgettable city as it’s shaped by the disparate people who live, work (and run amok) inside an enormous, constantly evolving, densely populated Japanese megalopolis” or something!

See the trailer here or click on the image above for more stills from the film.

Flight of the Conchords - Carol Brown

Now that it’s been on telly, it’s surely fair game to post a link to the Carol Brown video by Michel Gondry. Click on the image above to confirm (or deny if that’s a Gondry cameo). Looks like now they’re on Sub Pop they’ve released “Ladies of the World” with a full-on video and it’s a nice job too.

Plus, if you haven’t already seen enough, there’s a nice clip of Michel Gondry and Robert Stickgold discussing dreams.

“It’s a sickness when you’re a film maker, when you feel that you can’t enjoy life unless you record it.” Michel Gondry

Lisztomania Mashup

Again, this is an oldie but a goodie…click the image to see a video for Lisztomania by Phoenix made with clips from your favourite (or least favourite?) Brat Pack films. I’m probably just showing my age here but there you go…

And if you’re not having that how about Ally Sheedy’s anti-drug Public Service Announcement about crack in the 80’s?

Heat Press

heatpress

It’s a red letter day when you go to the tip to offload your household crap and find two heat presses! They were pretty rough when I picked them up but after a bit of white spirt and WD40 it all looks good. I’ve already burnt myself…

So the question is, what are they good for? I’ve only every used one once before for t-shirt printing and we screen printed the glue on and then melted the flock on top. I no longer have access to screen printing equipment so any one got any DIY ideas? Can you get self adhesive vinyls, flock or foils? Are they any good? How do you work out the timings and temperatures & how likely am I to burn my knuckles off?

Any advice, thoughts, links you might have would be greatly appreciated…

Keith Lemon

Managed to miss Keith Lemons Very Brilliant World Tour when it was on telly (when I say on telly I mean it was on ITV2 which is nearly the same thing) but this week the DVD came from ebay and I can happily give it two thumbs up. Click on the Montage Of Keith above to set the scene…
